What version(s) of Edge work with IRBManager?
In general any current version of Edge will work with IRBManager. More specifically, any current version of the Chromium-based version of Edge will work with IRBManager. Edge, like all modern browsers, automatically updates on a regular basis so we do not provide specific version numbers.
What is the "new" Edge?
Unfortunately Microsoft has used the name "Edge" for two different evolutions of browser. In their initial attempts to replace Internet Explorer Microsoft started to create a new browser called Edge. Microsoft later abandoned this approach choosing instead to based their IE replacement on Chromium, the same underpinnings as Google's Chrome browser. Just to complicate life Microsoft chose to continue to use the "Edge" name for this Chromium-based evolution. Anytime (2020+) Microsoft talks about moving to the "new" Edge, they're talking about the Chromium based Edge.
While anything is possible, we'd be stunned if an organization moved to the old (Microsoft-specific Edge) as Microsoft considered that a dead product. Organizations should be moving to the new (Chromium-based) Edge.
How do I tell what version of Edge I have?
While screens shots can vary slightly from version to version, in general the following should get you to the version information for Edge.
- Bring up the About information for Edge by clicking on the 3 dots, then selecting "Help and Feedback", and then clicking on "About Microsoft Edge.
- In the "About" screen look your specific version may differ, but look for the statement that the browser is based on, or "made possible by" Chromium. This is the "new" Edge.
